P R E - O R D E R PORSCHE: THE IMPOSSIBLE COLLECTION
Some cars are built to move people. Porsche built cars that moved culture, onto racetracks and gallery walls, into film and fashion, and into the imagination of every child with a poster above the bed.
Created in official collaboration with Porsche AG and drawn from the company's archives in Germany, Porsche: The Impossible Collection distills the marque into one hundred defining moments. Moving chronologically from the 1948 Gmünd Roadster to the 911, the 959, the Carrera GT, and the Taycan, the book treats each icon as a character, its studio portrait set among archival photographs, design sketches, and the advertising that made it an object of desire. Nineteen victories at Le Mans sit alongside Hanns Lohrer's pop-art posters, the Chronograph I, Daniel Arsham's eroded 911s, and the Mulberry Green 993 Turbo built with Aimé Leon Dore.
A. J. Baime, whose account of the Ford and Ferrari rivalry inspired the Academy Award–winning film Ford v Ferrari, writes with a historian's rigor and a driver's affection.
For those who measure a life in laps, liveries, and late nights in the garage, this monumental volume, handcrafted in Italy, is the archive made tangible. Ferry Porsche built the car he could not find; this is the story of everything that followed.
